PASSIVE HOUSES CAN BE SUCCESSFULLY BUILT IN ROMANIA

Passive houses with very low power consumption, can be successfully built in Romania. Such a house, built in the pilot project "Passive houses suited to weather conditions in Romania" totalled construction cost of 1,200 euros per sqm (excluding VAT and cost of land), said Madalina Anastasiu, expert at the Institute of Studies and Power Engineering (ISPE), managing partner in the project produced as part of the European NET PASS. The project included the construction of second homes in duplex, with ground floor and first floor height, respectively with a usable area of 140 sqm. Construction was carried out with aerated, mineral wool, metal roofing, wood panels and metal panels. Besides 30 cm insulation that were applied to ventilated carpentry facades, heat exchangers, a heat pump, solar panels and solar collectors were added.

A passive house has a fuel consumption for heating / cooling up to 15 kWh per square meter per year and total primary energy consumption for all consumers in the home must not exceed the value of 120 kWh per square meter per year. In Romania only two projects have been certified as passive houses so far, including the project mentioned.

The "Passive houses suited to weather conditions in Romania" was conducted by a team of ISPE, Bucharest Polytechnic University, University of Architecture and Urbanism "Ion Mincu" University of Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering Research Institute Bucharest, Academy of Scientists Romania and Assembly Construction general contracting company.
